I am Angela Coakley, a descendant of West African Slaves brought to the low country of South Carolina. I was born and raised in Charleston County, specifically in Mt. Pleasant [7-mile]. I was taught the art of basket weaving by mother (Albertha Coakley) at a very young age. As I perfected the craft, I also learned the history and traditions associated with the art. I have been blessed with skills and abilities to continue to share this sacred art of Sweet-Grass Basket weaving. Thank you for getting to know me.
